Board of student representatives

Over the past years, the input from students has proven to be extremely valuable. The master program can only be made into a success if students fully participate, are heard and actively participate in the organization. Therefore we have a Board of Student Representatives who meet with the coordinators of the master every other month.

Both tracks are represented by four students, two first-year and two second-year students. These students form the link between the coordinators and the students. They will make sure that problems or suggestions brought forward by one of master students will be (confidentially) discussed. Besides attending the meetings with the coordinators, be the spokesman of all students, student representatives are also expected to join one of the committees of the master, e.g. the introduction-, symposium-, ENP (annual Dutch Neuroscience Meeting), journal- or educational committee. One of the students is also representing the master in the Board of the Utrecht Graduate School of Life Sciences. If you want to ask our students a question you can contact them at: studentrep@neuroscience-cognition.org

Anneke Olde Engberink (former student representative of the ECN track and committee member of the ENP organisation):

“In my own experience as a student representative I helped some students with their problems. Especially after the Introductory Course, fellow students came to me with concerns about the course or exam. I was able to share these with the coordinators to try to improve the course for the next year. I also enjoyed being in the ENP committee. It was very interesting to read submitted abstracts, and to get a feeling of what our fellow students elsewhere in The Netherlands were doing. Besides, I got the opportunity to attend the ENP meeting myself, which was great! I can recommend everybody to join the Board of Student Representatives. It is very interesting to have a say in the decision-making process, and to inform other students about what is going on in the master.”
