The Journal of Neuroscience & Cognition is an internal scientific report, made entirely by our master students. It gives students a unique opportunity to learn how to publish already during their master education. Each year two issues are published and distributed among Neuroscience & Cognition students and their supervisors. The journal is composed of original research articles and scientific reviews based on the work carried out as part of the internship or master thesis, respectively. These articles are then anonymously peer-reviewed by fellow master students. Finally they are accepted by the Editorial Board of the Journal, who is responsible for creating the different issues.
The Editorial Board consists of seven enthusiastic Neuroscience & Cognition students who take part in the course “communication in neuroscience”. They organize the reviewing, judge the articles internally, create a layout and find new sponsors to be able to release a Journal twice per year.
Ruud van Zessen (former Chief Editor) about the journal:
“As the Chief Editor of the Editorial Board of 2009-2010, I can say that creating the Journal has been a very interesting and instructive experience. There are a lot of different aspects that come into play when creating the Journal. They range from organizing the reviewing, to promoting the Journal, dealing with sponsors, creating a layout, creating new content and working with deadlines. All in all, it is both challenging and exciting to put together the Journal of Neuroscience & Cognition.”
