The Mind the Brain Symposium is one of the annual highlights of the master program. Recent editions featured fascinating lectures by international renowned speakers, such as Prof B. Everitt from Cambridge University, Prof. Sergio Delle Sala from Edinburgh University and Prof B. Keverne from Cambridge University. This is complemented by presentations of the scientific work done by the students themselves.
The Mind the Brain Symposium offers a small group of students a unique opportunity to learn the skills of organizing a scientific event, since the symposium is completely organized by students, as part of the course “Communication in Neuroscience”. Nine students each year can enroll and are then responsible for the complete organization, from putting together an attractive scientific program, to organizing lunches and goodie bags.
Ricardo Paap (former Chair) and Mari van Lunenburg (former Secretary) about the committee:
“Besides the hard work and big responsibility, organizing a Symposium is really fun and a great experience. You work together as a team and you meet frequently, which is nice because you stay in contact with different fellow students than the ones you know from your internship. We really enjoyed doing it and especially the feeling during and after the Symposium is priceless.”
