A special program for talented students
The master Neuroscience & Cognition allows excellent students to write their own PhD project and provides the financial means to some of these students to execute the project in one of sixteen excellent research groups of the Rudolf Magnus Institute.
After an open call and a subsequent selection step during the first months of the master program, six to eight excellent students will enter a special program, involving lab rotations, small group teaching and ‘writing your own PhD project’. During the lab rotations the eight students will get a flavor of the research possibilities within the Institute. Once the rotations are finished, the students choose a lab for their first internship. During the course of the first year, they will slowly zoom in on the subject of their PhD project. At the start of the second year, they will complete their application, supervised by the research-leader of the group in which they intend to carry out their project. All students will get the chance to present and discuss their project with an external jury who eventually ranks the candidates. The institute will award the two best candidates with a grant to execute their project.
