Fundamentals of Neuroscience and Cognition

The course Fundamentals of Neuroscience and Cognition

The course Fundamentals of Neuroscience and Cognition is a ten week course and obligatory for all Neuroscience and Cognition Master students. During the course the basic principles of neuroscience will be explained. The main aim of this course is to give a good overview of all disciplines, to meet the scientists involved and to explain how all disciplines interact in resolving key questions about brain function and disease.

The course is organised in four clusters; each cluster highlights a specific aspect of neuroscience research. The final exam of the course needs to passed to continue in the master program.

The four clusters are:

  • Neuro-anatomy and Imaging
  • Systems Neuroscience
  • Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience
  • Cognition

Questions about the course can be addressed to the co-ordinator Dr. Geert Ramakers (G.M.J.Ramakers@umcutrecht.nl)

Kandel et al., Principles of Neural Science is obligatory literature for the course.
